For Ministerial Counselors
Emotions Anonymous - Emotional health through a twelve-step program
Dear Ministerial Counselor:
If the words "Emotions Anonymous" are new to you, we would like to introduce you to this twelve-step program. To those who come to you for pastoral counseling, this information could be very important.
Far too many people in the world today suffer from runaway emotions such as fear, worry, anxiety and stress. Sometimes the problems are too severe to be dealt with in single pastoral counseling sessions. Yet the person, for a variety of reasons cannot, or will not, see a mental health care professional. Emotions Anonymous may be the answer for this individual.
Based on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous is a spiritually-based program that reveres all religious teachings. Our Twelve Steps depend upon the belief in a Higher Power and each member may follow his or her personal religious conscience.
The love, support and sharing within the EA group have been a major influence in the recovery of many people. We are pleased that both clergy and healthcare professionals in our area are recommending participation in a twelve-step program as a supplement to their own counseling.
Our fellowship is open to all faiths. Our meetings provide a loving and supportive environment in which recovery and healing can take place. We hope you will share this information with anyone who may need it.
